A cheery book

I just finished up yet another lovely address book {if I do say so myself :)} This lovely BLM really had no preference as to the design or colors or really anything. What she did let me know though was that this book was going to be her everyday address book, not just for her BLM friends. So she preferred to not have it say BLM on it. I love doing books for any and everyone however it is that they want to use it. She pretty much gave me a blank slate and gave me all creative power on this book. I had to play around with a few ideas before I came up with something that I absolutely loved. The photo really doesn't do the address book justice. The fleur on this book was the blended fleur using yellow and orange. The edges were lined in silver ink. It really made the flower pop and give it a very classy look. The book was embellished with rhinestones and golden doves. It really all came together quite nicely and great for everyday use. I call this beauty 'Sunburst' because of the gold and yellow/orange tones and the cheery vibe it gives off. I just know this special friend will love this!

The Newest Address Book

I'm back with another post of a lovely address book I made for an even lovelier BLM.  This beauty is called "Warm Breeze". It's covered in recycled paper and you may recognize that little birdie from "Glittery Bird" (that little bird seems to be a favorite). This lovely BLM just gave me some colors and ideas to work with and this is what I came up with.

I thought I would share a little about how the covered books are made. Once I have found the right piece of recycled paper I have to fold the paper to fit the book exactly. I then trim any excess paper and make sure its all even. I have to do this sometimes up to 5 or more times to get it just right. Then I have to glue it to the desired book. This takes a lot of patience. The glue has to be spread evenly and just the right amount. To add to that, I must work quickly as the glue sometimes makes certain papers a bit soggy. I must fit it exactly on to the book and make sure that it fits like a glove both opened and closed. Once again it takes a few attempts to make sure the fit is just perfect.

Then immediately after it is fitted I go through a serious of different steps to ensure the paper is flat with no air bubbles or bulges of glue. Again, I must go through these steps several times to make sure everything is perfect. Then I let it dry over night and in the morning its ready to be decorated!

I hope you enjoy this address book as much as I enjoyed making it.

New work

Hello all! I hope this post finds you well. I have been updating the "Gallery" tab with some of my new work. Feel free to go on over and check it out. One of the newest projects I have completed which I am very excited to share with you is a custom request. This came from my very own mother. She requested to have a picture frame to place a photo of all her grandkids. Yes, all of them. Including her very first grandchild Genesis. This was my chance to incorporate my dear Genesis in a family photo of all the grandchildren... because she too is a grandchild. So with some suggestions from my mother, this is what the finished product looks like:
I seriously cannot wait to see this sitting on her mantle. Remember, I can do custom requests for you too. Whatever it maybe... let your imagination go wild. Id be happy to work with you to make you your very own one of a kind custom piece.

Los Angeles Walk To Remember

I am very late with this post but in all fairness, this blog wasnt up at the time. So better late than never, right? I wanted to share that I had a part in the Los Angeles Walk To Remember that was held on October 9th, 2010.  We even had our very own sign at the walk (before the name change of 'Written From The Heart'). One of our address books was raffled off to one lucky winner.  I cannot tell you what an honor it was to be a part, even if it was just a little part, of the Los Angeles Walk To Remember.  I hope to continue to support the walk in years to come.

This one is called Glittery Bird.  I personally really love this book as it's gender neutral and its just so simple and has a classic look to it.  And of course so much love was really put into it.  I am happy to say that another BLM has fallen in love with this design as well that I am in the works of creating a Glittery Bird II. Photos to come shortly so check out the gallery from time to time.

Elegant Fuchsia

I'd like to unveil my most recent project. I call it Elegant Fuchsia. This was made for a very special friend. She has contributed greatly to the BLM community and her work is absolutely amazing. From her blog makeovers, to her collages, to her care packages, to her memory boxes,  and you cant forget her adorable hair accessories and gorgeous works of art.  She is one of the most amazing women I have been fortunate enough to meet through the BLM community, and I'm privileged to call her my friend.

I truly enjoyed creating this piece of art for her as it was made completely from scratch. The fuchsia damask pattern on the front was 100% hand drawn. The fleur is handmade and painted as well. A lot of love went into creating this address book. With each project I strive to make it as beautiful and meaningful as possible. I think the finished product speaks for itself.
